Cora's News and Updates
Wednesday, 05 May 2010 - Summer Dreamin'
I'm 100% ready for summer. Both my boys are graduating this month, (one from PreK, the other from high school) so it's easy to get swept up in the end-of-the-school-year fever. It also has me looking forward to all the late night writing sessions I'll be able to indulge in without having to worry about waking up at the crack of dawn, and I anticipate there will be many over the course of the next few months.
I have a few stories in the works, one is a vampire novel. This is my dream book, my baby. It's an urban fantasy-ish story I hope will find a home with a print publisher. The other is a Werekind book, Seth's story, for those who have been asking. And the third is a fantasy romance that has a couple of partial requests on it at the moment, but I do believe it will have to be rewritten before it's ready to go. So while it may seem like a large gap between releases, rest assured I am working.
In the meantime, I have a few stories floating around in submission land. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll get some acceptances. :0)
As always, if you're curious about what I'm up to, I blog regularly. You can find my blog on the "My Diary" photo to the left, or by going directly to http://corazane.blogspot.com .
Saturday, 22 August 2009 - Summer in Review
It's safe to say I've had a busy summer. I've had a string of new releases over the past few months. Wave Rider, Wicked Desires, and Moonlight and Shadows were all released through
Cobblestone Press, and Feral Instinct (part of the Rekindled Fire Anthology) was released through
Ravenous Romance.
I also did a fun guest interview over at
Ann Lory's Blog, and finished up a full length futuristic romance novel that I've put on the shelf for a month or two before I begin revisions.
In the meantime, I've been working my way through revisions on
Love Fool, the full length contemporary romance that won 1st place in the contemporary series category of the Lone Star Writing Competition last year. It's my goal to have that story submitted to the editor who requested it by mid-September. Wish me luck!
This time of year, I always start thinking about fall freebies. Who doesn't like a free read? :0) This year I hope to put out something different, maybe something metaphysical. We'll see.
Just a reminder, I blog almost daily at http://corazane.blogspot.com. I blog frequently about writing progress, release updates and more! So if you're in the blogging neighborhood, be sure to drop by and say hi!
Tuesday, 24 March 2009 - Upcoming Books
It's been a long time since my last update, but I've been a busy girl, I promise! I have good news to those who have been waiting for more yummy werewolf goodness. I have contracted two new Werekind short stories since January:
Moonlight and Shadows to Cobblestone Press, and
Feral Instinct to Ravenous Romance as part of their upcoming Rekindled anthology.
For those waiting for the 2nd installment of the Immortal Lover's series, Serge's story is complete and is currently spinning its heels in submissionland as I'm typing this entry. As soon as I find a home for this rough and ready tale of no-holds-barred vampire lust, I will post it here on the website and possibly shout it from the highest mountain. This story is a long time in coming.
In the meantime, I'm working on several new projects, including a psychological horror story to be included in the upcoming Weirdly 3 anthology for Wild Child Publishing. For a daily look at what projects I'm currently working on, feel free drop by my blog. The link is listed here on site as "my diary". Or, you can simply copy and paste my URL: http://corazane.blogspot.com
The Spring newsletter is coming soon! I'm waiting to hear back on a few submissions before finalizing the pdf file. I anticipate the newsletter going up sometime around the first week of April. Stay tuned, because I'll be posting an exclusive giveaway to win a cute Cora Zane sleep shirt in the next issue. You'll find this contest no where else!
The Blow Hard Tour 2009 begins March 31st, and I'm on the list for April 4th. Author
Sommer Marsden has pulled out all the stops in celebration of that certain intimate artform that leaves most men shouting, "Oh, oh, baby!"
Are you down to go down? We certainly hope so! The Blow Hard Tour includes 12 tempting tour stops featuring book excerpts and/or lip-smacking true stories of oral pleasure.
I'll be posting a smoking hot excerpt from the upcoming Werekind novella
Moonlight and Shadows. Be sure to mark your calendars for a sneak peek at my upcoming ebook! To find out more about the tour and the roster, go here: http://corazane.blogspot.com/2009/03/blow-hard-tour-2009.html OR visit Sommer Marsden's blog at http://smutgirl.blogspot.com.
Tuesday, 28 October 2008 - "Love Fool" Wins First Place in the Contemporary Series Category in the Lone Star Writing Competition
I'm back from Houston! I went to the early bird meet and greet on the 24th, and the Lone Star Conference hosted by the NW Houston Chapter of the RWA, Saturday, October 25th. I had a fantastic time while there; the folks from NW Houston Chapter are a real hoot!
Patricia Kay was the key speaker for the conference, and we were treated to a thorough series of workshops on scenes, sequels, structure, and prologues. I took six pages of notes, and learned quite a bit from what was taught there. If you don't have "Scenes and Structure" by Jack Bickham in your library already, I'm recommending it. It was on the book list that was handed out to us at Patricia Kay's first workshop. In my opinion, the examples listed from it were enlightening. I ordered it from Amazon.com once I was back home and barefoot at the computer desk.
The winners of the 16th annual Lone Star Writing contest were announced at the conference as well, and I'm happy to report that my manuscript, Love Fool, took first place in the short contemporary category. I also received a full manuscript request from an editor who judged my entry.
It was an exciting trip, but all the same I'm glad to be back home and in my routine again. From now until the end of the year, I will be finishing off the remainder of my projects, which includes the second book in my Immortal Lovers vampire series. I'll post more about that once I have it sent out in submission land. I'm also working on my November newsletter, so be on the look out for that in the next two weeks.
